Hello, my name is Ana. Welcome to my blog! I started this blog to motivate my writing, document my journey into the writing world and to share what I find along the way. I aspire to be a published author of a fiction or non-fiction novel. I have recently changed the direction of this blog, and even though I will post writing related information, I also want to write about self-interest topics. I want my blog to be more about who I am as a writer. Thank you for visiting and please sign my guestbook at the bottom.
Write about the title of your blog, website, published book or work in progress. How did you come up with it? What does it say about your blog, website, published work or work in progress?
When I first decided to create a blog, I had a hard time coming up with the title. It seemed so many were calling their blogs things like "Daily Thoughts" or "My Journal." While it was true that my blog would mainly be about my daily thoughts, I wanted something with a little more "oomph."
I started thinking of all my favorite sayings and finally settled on a phrase that a friend of mine taught me. She used the term "foreign quang" to describe anything that was a conglomeration of things that couldn't be described. For example, she said the crud left at the bottom of a sink drainer was "foreign quang." Or the bits and pieces of "whatever" that get caught in the tread of your shoe--foreign quang.
Since I would be writing about various bits and pieces of my life that alone might seem insignificant but together might have meaning, I decided on Foreign Quang as the title of my blog. It seems to have a ring to it and some of my followers like it that they are known as Quangsters.
@Randi Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. It is good to read about the "behind the scenes" thought process in titles and any other writing for that matter.
When I started this blog, I knew I wanted it to mostly relate to writing and the writing craft. I was on a journey to learning all I could about how to write. I also wanted to share what I had already learned from other sources, such as my writing class, other blogs, writing books, etc. as well as some things I have written. I wanted to also include things that I connect with, that are motivational and/or inspirational to me because I feel these things lead me to get ideas and get me writing.
I played around with a several titles, I wanted the word "write" in some form or fashion to be in the title. I also wanted to have my own domain name, so some of the ones I liked were taken, but not "The Writer Today". I think this title depicts me and perhaps other writers of "today". I have come across so many wonderful blogs and people share their journeys so openly that I felt I was not alone. I have a sense of support from my fellow bloggers that have writing blogs and other blogs as well. I am thankful and appreciative of all those that so generously share their knowledge/thoughts/experiences with others. We can all learn so much from one another.
