Do You Write To Blog or Do You Blog To Write?

I started "The Writer Today" blog almost two years ago, in October 2008. I wanted to get myself writing on a daily basis, and get my creative juices flowing. Prior to my blog, I was not writing at all and my creativity lay dormant. How could I pursue my dream of writing a romantic suspense novel if I did not write?

I began by posting at least once a week, then two, sometimes more. As I followed other writing and non-writing blogs, my comments there helped my writing and gave me inspiration. Though I do not post as often or make as many comments, I still write something every day.  Though I have not started on my novel yet, I feel I am on the "write" track.

Do you write to blog or do you blog to write?

I blog to stay sane. (Does that count?) To interact with other writers, read their advice, experiences, share in their joys or frustrations, and sometimes share mine as well.

Hi Ana,
I blog because I am a compulsive writer. Not an "author" just a random writer - can't seem to stop myself. Blogging is a nice outlet and a way to keep in touch with people who may feel they had to try to answer emails if that was my outlet. With blogs, they can peruse at their leisure without guilt or thinking they need to respond.

I have loved blogging from the day my daughter introduced it to me a year ago.

I'd say I do both! Reading other writers journey's keeps me inspired to create my own journey. And writing my blog keeps others connected to me. And makes me write, of course.

I love giving myself the homework of blogging. I need to get my thoughts down somewhere. I need to have an outlet for my creativity especially during my hectic days with the kids. It's a true sanctuary for me.

I write 2 blogs.
One is a continuation of a radio show I did a few years ago. I enjoy being a venue for other Winnipeggers - to let others know what they are doing.
A year ago both my parents and my dog died. I don't know why but I just started a second blog. It is a more personal blog which allows me to write about my interests and stories.
I enjoy writing both and can't imagine not doing them, so I guess you could say I blog to write.

To be true to myself, I write. So, I blog to write and I write to blog. It's my contribution to self; and if anyone else enjoys my writing, well, then it is a gift.
I first started blogging to introduce my children's story and detail some of the bits that went into writing,
self-publishing and marketing the book. Now, I blog as a continuation of my writing and my need to write. Blogging gives me a reason to write, and reminds me to go to my notebooks and write my stories.
